SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR, MEDICAL EDUCATION

Summary: In this role, the Scientific Director (SD) is responsible for planning, development and oversight of scientific content for Bairex’s educational activities across a range of therapeutic areas, addressing different target audiences.


Responsibilities: Responsibilities include working with the Chief Medical Officer to provide health care audience with strategic medical communication recommendations that support Bairex’s mission. The candidate will independently lead execution of content development activities, supervise medical writers, project managers, and liaise with other in-house or freelance staff to manage writing and other content-related tasks such as conducting background research, data-checking and reference annotation.


The position requires current knowledge of adult learning theory and practices and emerging digital technologies for education delivery to health care professionals required. Excellent communication skills including presentations, internal team training, public speaking, writing, active listening, and synthesizing information from diverse sources when working with colleagues, members, and volunteers


Education: PhD, PharmD, MD, or advanced nursing degree

Professional Skills & Experience: Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant job experience with medical education content such as advisory boards, publication planning, speaker programs, slide decks, etc. This role requires demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to analyze and interpret scientific data, multi-task, work independently, and manage projects within tight deadlines with limited direction. Experience with established professional medical editorial processes (e.g., AMA style),
ethical guidelines is also required
The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:


  • Excellent writing and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual in French and English (speak, read, and write) preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple timelines
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Willingness to travel within Africa and the Middle East (~10%
