Health in African is an issue of human equity and a precursor to poverty reduction and human development. Africa is facing a growing burden of disease due to infections; malnutrition; reproductive health problems; noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, mental health, and injury; and the health risks associated with globalization, such as pandemics and climate change.
Cancer is on the rise in Sub-Saharan Africa. More than one third of cancer deaths in Africa are from cancers that are preventable and/or treatable, if detected early.
